our OrIgin story

From One Sunset to a Movement

After years away from the trail, I found my way back — and it changed everything. What started as one woman putting a feeler out for hiking company turned into a whole community, a summit of Kilimanjaro, and eventually, this. Roam Freely Outdoors was born from a love of trails, friendship, and the belief that adventure is better shared.

    I met Michele in July 2020, when she started a women’s hiking group in Loudoun County, Virginia. On our very first hike, I was impressed by how attentive Michele was to the fact that we had hikers of all different experience levels. She made sure everyone felt comfortable and included, offering guidance to those of us who were newer to hiking. She was helpful and encouraging, never intimidating.
